Good idea! But there seems to be some sort of a formatting error on this. --141.158.234.6 09:31, 15 Jun 2006 (EDT)
I'm seeing the same formatting error. The problem seems to be that the width of the table is fixed (at 220px) but that depending on the user's choice of font and font size that can be too narrow and cause the weeks to wrap around onto a second line. I tried removing the width and it still looked good, so I'm going to make that change. --Roger 12:44, 15 Jun 2006 (EDT)
I think that the stuff inside the <noinclude> directive isn't working correctly. When I look at pages that include the template, I can see the actual switch statement, which I'm sure isn't what you wanted, and the entry into Category:Dates also appears to be messed up. FWIW, I think that you really want to use <includeonly> (which adds the information only when the template is included, but not in the template itself) rather than <noinclude> (which includes the section in the template but not in pages using the template). Also FWIW, Wikipedia indicates that those directives only work in Mediawiki 1.6 and higher, while the Bullpen is using 1.4.7, so it's not clear that they'll actually work anyway.
Changed <noinclude> to <includeonly>. While they don't work now, Admin indicated that he plans to upgrade the site to 1.6+ at some point in the near future. Also, the switch statement does not work because the Bullpen does not have the parserfunctions extension; hopefully that will be one of the extensions included as part of the update. --MichaelEng 16:14, 15 Jun 2006 (EDT) edited 16:18, 15 Jun 2006 (EDT)
We should probably pull the non-functional parts from the template until there's some way of making them work properly. The pages that include the template have a whole bunch of garbage that looks really terrible and isn't doing anything useful. I know that it's frustrating. The best solution that I can think of is to have the template include the month both as the number and written version. That would let you eliminate the switch statement and still add in links automatically, albeit at the cost of a bit more work. --Roger 16:39, 15 Jun 2006 (EDT)
Temporarly removed from template. I am going to hold of any adding any more dates until I can find out if the Media-Wiki import feature can be added. --MichaelEng 19:32, 15 Jun 2006 (EDT)
Events, births and deaths that occured on '''[[{{#switch:{{{1}}} |1=January |2=February |3=March |4=April |5=May |6=June |7=July |8=August |9=September |10=October |11=November |12=December |#default=unknown }} {{{2}}}]]'''. <includeonly> [[Category:Dates|{{#switch:{{{1}}} |1=01 |2=02 |3=03 |4=04 |5=05 |6=06 |7=07 |8=08 |9=09 |#default={{{1}}} }}{{#switch:{{{2}}} |1=01 |2=02 |3=03 |4=04 |5=05 |6=06 |7=07 |8=08 |9=09 |#default={{{2}}} }}]] </includeonly>
The update caused something to go awry with this template. Now, none of the date pages have a category. Jeff 17:21, 14 August 2007 (EDT)
