• 1944 - Red Barrett (pictured) tosses 58 pitches in a complete game, a record low for a nine-inning major league game. He beats the Reds 2-0 in one hour and 15 minutes.
• 1962 - Bob Veale of the Columbus Jets strikes out 22 Buffalo Bisons in 9 innings but gets a no-decision in an extra-inning contest.
• 1971 - Harmon Killebrew swats his 500th major league home run, taking Mike Cuellar deep. He is the tenth player to reach the mark.
• 2003 - Rafael Furcal turns the 12th unassisted triple play in major league history.
