Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop Ted Shipley was taken 14th overall (one pick after shortstop Garry Templeton and ahead of catcher Lance Parrish, outfielder Willie Wilson and pitcher Rick Sutcliffe) by the Minnesota Twins in the 1974 amateur draft. He spent three years in the minors, never advancing past Double-A, and hit .238/.322/.309 with 35 stolen bases in 284 games. Perhaps his best year was his first, when he hit .288/.359/.353 with 13 stolen bases in 78 games for the Lynchburg Twins.
