Biographical Information[edit]

Teboho Shelile started off playing softball in high school. He played a leading role in bringing baseball to Lesotho and served as Secretary General of the Lesotho Baseball and Softball Association for a time. He helped develop contacts with the IBAF. He got the first pitching start for the Lesotho national team in their first major international tournament, the 1999 All Africa Games. He was roughed up by the host South African national team for 13 hits, 4 walks and 18 runs (8 earned) in 2 innings before Bofihla Maputla relieved; Lesotho lost 43-0 in a five-inning mercy rule romp. He started at third base the next game, going 3 for 5 with a RBI to lead Lesotho to a 18-14 win over the Ghanaian national team. He also pitched their third game, lasting two innings against Zimbabwe (3 H, 5 BB, 7 R, 1 ER, 1 K) before Maputla again relieved. He did not play in their last two games. He tied for second on the team in hits, half of leader Lisema Molise. His 40.50 ERA wound up as the highest on the staff.
