Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Taylor Widener was a 12th round selection by the New York Yankees in the 2016 amateur draft, out of the University of South Carolina. He pitched 13 games (2 starts) for two different teams that first year, going a combined 3-0, 0.47 for the Staten Island Yankees and Charleston RiverDogs. He showed good stuff, striking out 59 batters in 38 1/3 innings. In 2017, he moved up to the Tampa Yankees of the Florida State League and went 7-8, 3.39 in 27 starts, pitching 119 1/3 innings and striking out 129 batters.

On February 20, 2018, he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks along with 2B Nick Solak in return for major league IF Brandon Drury.
