Talk:Santiago de Las Vegas, Havana

From BR Bullpen

La Habana Province no longer exists. What is it part of now? - --Mischa 20:43, 31 December 2011 (EST)

Both the English and Spanish wikipedia say it's in Havana province (which I assumed was the same as La Habana). [1] So has the province really been abolished? From another wikipedia article: "The new provinces started functioning from January 1, 2011. Havana City Province (Ciudad de La Habana) recovered its original name: La Habana (Havana in English)." I used the "La Habana" name to be consistent with other towns in our "settlements in Cuba" category, but maybe I was wrong, as I'm no expert on Cuba. The important point is to distinguish this city from the other Santiago in Cuba, as they're two different places. --Philippe 04:25, 1 January 2012 (EST)

La Habana Province was divided into Mayabeque Province and Artemisa Province - --Mischa 10:37, 2 January 2012 (EST)

Okay, I found it. It's not in one of the two new provinces, but in the municipality of La Habana, which still exists independently from the two new entities. See here, under 13: [2]. Now, how do we call places within the independent city of Havana ? --Philippe 11:35, 2 January 2012 (EST)

It should be listed as Havana, just as neighborhoods in an American city redirect to the city itself. - --Mischa 12:13, 2 January 2012 (EST)

Yes, but it was an independent city for a long time. We do have articles on a few places that no longer exist in the U.S. and Canada because they've been absorbed into other cities. --Philippe 13:59, 2 January 2012 (EST)

What do you think about my revision? - --Mischa 14:09, 2 January 2012 (EST)

I think it's good. --Philippe 14:54, 2 January 2012 (EST)
