Talk:Phil Powers
Moved from main page:
Phil "Grandmother" Powers was born in 1854 in New York city to John and Mary Powers, Irish immigrants. Powers made his baseball debut in 1878 and retired in 1885. He married Canadian Mary Rombough in 1878. The couple lived in Canada and had at least 4 daughters--Ethel, Georgie, Marie, and Lucinda. Marie Powers went on to marry sports writer and stockbroker Tom Lyons. The couple's eldest daughter, Marie, married James Killilea and was the mother of Karen Killilea, subject of her mother's bestseller, "Karen." Karen was born with cerebral palsy, and her mother was a groundbreaking pioneer in helping individuals with disabilities learn to lead self-sufficient lives.
