Talk:Nap Reyes

From BR Bullpen

Part of why I like this site is sharing info that others may not have access to or know. Another big part is learning about stuff I don't know much about, i.e. Negro Leagues and Japanese baseball. So I find it frustrating when I see a category on a player with no explanation. Nap Reyes got the blacklisted tag. Is it a famous story I don't know off hand? I'm assuming he was re-instated, because he was scouting for the Braves in the early 70's. --Jeff 23:00, 24 July 2007 (EDT)

That's weird - I wonder why he got the tag. Auricle gave it to him but he hasn't been around for some time to ask him for the reason. Reyes deserves a better entry, regardless - from Cuban winter star straight to the IL and in the majors a year later, then starring in Mexico when it had so many major leaguers in the 1946-1947 years, finishing his career with 3 straight .365+ years in the low minors, managing in the minors and in Cuba...

Silly me. While I was typing that, I realized the reason for blacklisting. He jumped to Mexico in 1946 with Lanier, Maglie, Gardella, etc. That must be it.

Auricle added the blacklist tag to Maglie on the same date. If we checked the other jumpers, I'm guessing they were tagged as a group.

Makes sense. Thanks. --Jeff 10:18, 25 July 2007 (EDT)

Both Cananea Reyes and Nap Reyes are listed on their respective pages as managers of the Mexico City Red Devils in 1988-1991. From Cananea's Salon de la Fama page, he was the manager in 1988 for certain. Did Nap manage the Mexico City Tigers those years, or is this simply a confusion between the two Reyes ? --Philippe 03:26, 30 November 2007 (EST)

Johnson & Wolff list Ben Reyes (Cananea) for all three years. --Jeff 12:13, 30 November 2007 (EST)
