Talk:Marc Hill
Marc Hill was my manager in Mesa, AZ at the Randy Hundley baseball fantasy camp in 1994. That '94 season Marc managed Seattle farm AA Jacksonville Suns in the Southern League. At Mesa we were chatting and he said to visit him at Jacksonville, I'd be suited-up and take batting practice. So I phoned him one day and got the green light. The guy is a real classy fellow.
The Suns finished last in both halves of the S.L. season in '94, but they had some fine players during the four games I visited Marc. (First 3 games were against Birmingham and Michael Jordan.) I missed Alex Rodriguez by 2 weeks, A-Rod being promoted by Seattle to AAA Calgary. But I met Tony Kounas, the back-up catcher to Widger (of the W. Sox '05 champs); Widger was on the DL with a cast on an arm. Tony gave me a bat, which I used in Busch Stadium at Hundley's St. Louis mini-camp. The Suns DH led the Southern League in homers in '94, but because that was the M.L. strike year this fellow wasn't brought up then or ever to the majors. A real shame. I don't recall his name.
The '94 strike was so disgusting that my favorite sport is now thoroughbred horse racing and I breed and race horses in Illinois. Nate Bernstein
