Talk:Ken Hubbs
Today October 11th,2006 as the news is filled with the plane Cory Liddle was in, God rest his soul, crashed into a New York high rise the sports blogs are filled with the names of atheletes whom passed away in plane crashes, not a single one contained the name of Ken Hubbs. I remember him, a rookie of the year, a cubbie, a young man with a bright future taken away too young. I think I was about 10 or so at the time. I just want Ken to know that he is on my list.Me
Remembering a great athlete.[edit]
I can still remember when I heard, on the radio, the news about Kenny dying in a small plane crash. I was on the way back to school after Sunday morning worship. I could not believe it. I remember him from time together in junior college, playing intramural football and basketball with him. The year after he won Rookie of the Year, I was standing in the gym looking at the intramural team schedules and someone came up behind me, placed his hand on my shoulder, and said, "Hi Mike. How are you." I was no athlete, just a guy and he remembered me by name. His status as a Major League ballplayer and Rookie of the Year had not changed him one bit. Baseball lost a great player and the world lost a great young man. Michael DeWeese.
