Talk:Eerste Klasse

From BR Bullpen

Are all these teams notable? Maybe only those that have been a member of Hoofdklasse? - --Mischa 21:14, 30 August 2008 (EDT)

If I'm reading this right, this sounds like a professional level of ball. If it is, I'm all for inclusion especially if Hoofdklasse players come from here. It seems like this is just a Dutch minor league. Am I wrong about this assumption? Kinston eagle 22:42, 30 August 2008 (EDT)

Well, "professional" is not a term used much with a minor sport like baseball in the Netherlands, the term "top sport" is used instead and the Eerste Klasse is certainly included in that. Altough I'm not in favour of listing all teams seperately, I do consider all legal entities playing ORGANIZED baseball, as notable enough to be included. Do understand that for instance in my experience high schools in the Netherlands do NOT play baseball at all (softball is another story) and are thus not notable, not even if a hundred Major Leaguers went to school there.

"The BR Bullpen is an attempt to collect and organize the vastness of baseball knowledge. All things baseball." I do not see anything about "professional" here.

Nevertheless I do think we should have an article describing the way baseball is organized in the Netherlands in leagues and divisions. I just wonder about the best way to do so. One of the things I wonder about: how is a league defined?

So if I'm reading this right, the "reserves" are a kind of minor league affiliate (to use american concepts) for Hoofdklasse (sp?)? So then the reserve teams should be ADO-2 and Amsterdam Pirates-2 instead of ADO-2 and Amsterdam Pirates-2 for example, right? --Jeff 13:38, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
