I'm not sure the Dodgers shied away from free agents for years after the Stanhouse flop. When did they go out and sign the equally unsuccessful Dave Goltz ? Any others in '81-'83 or so ? --Philippe 10:53, 3 December 2007 (EST)

Even assuming they weren't signing free agents, they didn't really need to. They had four ROY in a row in that period and the farm system was producing enough players to add to what they already had. --Jeff 21:16, 3 December 2007 (EST)
