I'm not sure he was really converted to pitching. He was drafted as a two-way player, but only played shortstop the first year. I'd guess they just weren't sure where they wanted him at first. --Jeff 18:01, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

If a player is used at only one position one year and at another the next, we often use the converted category - ex. C.L. Penigar moved to pitcher for one year then moved back. If Kelly had been used a two-way player his first year as a pro, then I'd opt for the two-way category instead of converted - --Mischa 10:31, 10 October 2012 (EDT)
