Talk:Bill Shipke
As to "as it was the heart of the Deadball Era, his OPS+ was a perfectly respectable 93." 93 is below average, OPS+ is adjusted for the era. On the other hand 3B was a fielder's position prior to the 30s, when 2B became the fielder's position. But is 93 "perfectly respectable"? --Jeff 09:28, 5 February 2007 (EST)
I think it is. Every team will usually have a few below-average hitters and a 93 mark is certainly far from awful. Unless you're a first baseman or corner outfielder, a 93 will not cost you your job. I was trying to bring in a statistic that conveys the fact that Shipke was not bad that season, when people who look at the raw OPS or average might draw such a conclusion. - --Mischa 10:36, 5 February 2007 (EST)
