I think it's going to happen, apparently the French Baseball Federation has asked players from St. Martin to be on the team for the next WBC...

I'm not surprised. They used St. Martin players in the 2010 European Championship. They could get a few guys with US pro experience - Rene Leveret, Yamal Thomas, etc. - but France is still unlikely to be competitive with the major baseball nations. - --Mischa 08:01, 23 August 2010 (EDT)

Great, so Canada gets an "invite" to the qualifier. Wonder what pool they'll stick us in. It will probably be a cakewalk if they stick us with Brazil or the Philippines, I can see a bit of difficulty with Germany and the Czech Republic.

I'm a little upset that they don't just "include" teams like they did last time, mainly because were not on the main list... Hopefully this will be an incentive to do better than they did last time! Oaktree_b 23:15, 1 June 2011 (EDT)

Canada got its invitation the hard way - we earned it... I think it's a good idea; it will allow the field in the WBC to change as new countries become more competitive and force participating countries to take the tournament itself more seriously. The down side is that it's likely to be a long time until we see another African team in the WBC, though. --Philippe 02:56, 2 June 2011 (EDT)
