Talk:2009 World Baseball Classic (Rosters)
Through the first 5 official rosters, we have bios or at least pages for 31/45 from Australia, 39/45 for Canada, 19/34 for China, 38/45 for Cuba and 45/45 for Dominican Republic - overall, 172/214 or over 80%. Not bad. Almost 85% without China. - --Mischa 20:04, 19 January 2009 (EST)
35/45 for Italy, 40/45 for Japan, 42/45 for Mexico (I was surprised at how high this one was), 40/45 for Netherlands and 40/45 for Panama. 369/439 or 84.1%. Without China, over 85%. Six more countries to go. - --Mischa 20:48, 19 January 2009 (EST)
39/45 Puerto Rico, 22/45 South Africa, 42/45 South Korea, 41/45 Taiwan, 45/45 USA, 42/45 Venezuela. Total of 600/709 or 84.6%. Remove China and South Africa and it's 88.7%. - --Mischa 21:21, 19 January 2009 (EST)
The Netherlands is our third complete country. We're at 626/709 or 88.2% so we've added 26 complete bios in 5 days - at this rate, we'll easily have bios up for everyone by the time final rosters are announced. - --Mischa 21:01, 24 January 2009 (EST)
Mexico's done. - --Mischa 12:42, 26 January 2009 (EST)
South Korea is done. - --Mischa 14:58, 27 January 2009 (EST)
648/709 or 91.4%. Remove South Africa and it's 629/664 or almost 95%. - --Mischa 22:09, 28 January 2009 (EST)
Taiwan's done. 6 countries complete. - --Mischa 12:28, 30 January 2009 (EST)
Japan's done. - --Mischa 12:49, 30 January 2009 (EST)
Canada's done. - --Mischa 16:23, 3 February 2009 (EST)
China's surprisingly the 9th country done. 675/709 - just over 95%. Without South Africa, it's 643/664, almost 97%. - --Mischa 12:33, 4 February 2009 (EST)

Venezuela's done. - --Mischa 13:59, 5 February 2009 (EST)
Puerto Rico's done. BTW, this is now one of our 30 most popular pages in terms of hits, recently passing Atlanta Braves, Eastern League and College World Series. - --Mischa 20:13, 8 February 2009 (EST)
13 bios still to go. 696/709 or over 98%. - --Mischa 12:45, 9 February 2009 (EST)
South Africa's done. - --Mischa 20:11, 10 February 2009 (EST)
Italy's done. - --Mischa 20:59, 10 February 2009 (EST)
Cuba's done. - --Mischa 12:52, 12 February 2009 (EST)
Our only remaining player since Feb. 12 is finally entered. I was holding off with Diomedes Garcia of Panama because I could find almost nothing on him - a total blank slate basically. I put out a request for info on the Pirates mailing list - hopefully, that will pay off. I've also been doing bios of the coaches - I have two announced coaches still to go, but can't find out anything on Oscar Escobar of Venezuela. I have some info on Min-ho Kim of South Korea that I'll try to add next week. - --Mischa 12:30, 20 February 2009 (EST)
I deleted all the pages for players who didn't make final roster cuts who are not notable by our standards. Thanks to the additions of players not on the provisional pages, we're missing two bios, which I hope to do in the next day.- --Mischa 20:29, 24 February 2009 (EST)
The official site lists two players on the Cuban roster who aren't listed in any Cuban source - Yadier Pedroso and Ubisney Bermudez. The official site lists 29 names, one more than the team limits. As Bermudez has no uniform # given, I'm assuming he's there by mistake. MLB leaves off Joan Carlos Pedroso, who Cuban sources report making the team, not Yadier Pedroso. I'm trusting the Cuban sites for now. - --Mischa 20:46, 26 February 2009 (EST)
If anyone wants to work on transferring these guys into charts, please do so. Uniform numbers are listed at worldbaseballclassic.com - --Mischa 21:12, 26 February 2009 (EST)
Passed Hank Aaron as our 12th most popular page, though the Aaron page has been around about 10 times as long. Amazing. - --Mischa 12:07, 2 March 2009 (EST)
Up to our #9 page in terms of popularity, passing Nippon Pro Baseball, Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees. - --Mischa 15:37, 3 March 2009 (EST)
Has passed Jackie Robinson, New York Mets and Daisuke Matsuzaka and is 6th in popularity. Closing in on 40,000 hits; will likely pass A-Rod for #5 in popularity soon. - --Mischa 15:41, 9 March 2009 (EDT)
Amazing. This page is now 4th in popularity, passing A-Rod and even Babe Ruth. I doubt it will break into the top 3 (Main Page, What's the BR Bullpen, Pitches). - --Mischa 20:56, 16 March 2009 (EDT)
