Talk:1995 Postseason

From BR Bullpen

Move (and then delete this page) to a page entitled 1995 Major League Baseball, 1995 in Major League Baseball, or 1995 in the major leagues which would cover both the Major League Baseball postseason , regular season, award winners, all-star game etc. somewhat like what was done for the NPB. --MichaelEng (talk) 13:59, 18 May 2007 (EDT)

I think this works well on the pages it appears, though - see 1972 WS for example. It offers a quick way to look at relevant pages related to the 1972 WS. I would argue against removing it. It can be included on the main 1995 page, of course. - --Mischa 20:59, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

Every post-season has a page, in the form of a similar table. It is used in the templates that appear in various pages related to that season. The 1995 one was deleted/obfuscated when someone tried a new format for the 1995 WS which used a different post-season template. However, it is still good to have in order to complete the series. --Philippe 12:11, 21 May 2007 (EDT)

I was talking about this page, not this template. The templates which link to this page could be easily be changed as well. What I was thinking that the page could be somewhat of a portal page taking the basic information from its related pages (the year league pages, each postseason series, all-star game, etc.) and provide a snapshot of the MLB in that year.
Here is a rough example - some tables, some easily generated content "...season was the X(st,nd,rd,th) season of Major League Baseball...in the World Series the Atlanta Braves defeated the...". The Lorem ipsum text was just placeholder text, I was thinking a simple two to four sentence description of each post-season series and maybe six to ten on the regular season (including pennant races, off-season events, award winners etc.). So what do people think? --MichaelEng (talk) 19:46, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

I think a portal page works well. We can put it on the main 1995 page, IMO - the vast majority of people (I'm somewhat of an exception) are more interested in the majors than international baseball, college baseball, etc. and wouldn't mind more content. We do need to expand some of the sub-pages, like the league pages. I would strongly advise that the links be checked as they're added - I'm still going through the "this date" pages added a year ago and trying to correct and add some links. - --Mischa 19:52, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

I'm not following, do you mean put the MLB standings and league leaders on the 1995 page. Doesn't that seem kind of biased? As far of links, there shouldn't be any problems with links as it would generated from BDB not from wikipedia. --MichaelEng (talk) 16:06, 15 June 2007 (EDT)

I don't think it's bias so much as realism - people think baseball and 1995, they think major leagues and 1995. I'm fine with a separate page for MLB with a link from the main year page. -
