Talk:1903 World Series
Exact citiations (with pages numbers, etc.) would be nice. --MichaelEng 09:16, 13 September 2006 (EDT)
Again we have the "Boston Pilgrims" myth being set forward. There is not one single contemporary account in Boston newspapers of the "Boston American League Base Ball Club" (the name they used on the contract to play the "World Series") being referred to as the "Pilgrims". There is no need to be polite about this. The factual truth is that the Boston team was never referred to as the Pilgrims at any time between their inception and December 1907 when they created their official nickname "Red Sox."
Its not even correct to use qualifiers such as ('they were referred to by many names') when saying "Pilgrims" because while the former is true, the latter is not. My reference for this is - http://www.baseball-almanac.com/articles/boston_pilgrims_story.shtml
