Biographical Information[edit]
Takeo Tabe is a member of the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame. He played every position except catcher. After college, Tabe played on the Dai Nippon Tokyo Baseball Club team that toured the USA in 1934, stealing 109 bases in 105 tries as a leadoff hitter; he played the middle infield primarily. He served in the Japanese military during World War II and died in the fighting in Mabuni, Okinawa; details are sketchy. In 1969, he was inducted into the Japanese Hall of Fame. Previous inductees who died in the War were Masaru Kageura and Eiji Sawamura; at least three others would follow.
