Biographical Information[edit]

Takahide Ikeda pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Ikeda was drafted by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles in the second round of the 2016 NPB draft, and he received a 70 million yen signing bonus.[1] He stayed in the NPB Farm leagues for the entire 2017 season, and he collected 4 holds with a 1-5 record and a 5.91 ERA in 15 appearances in 2018. Ikeda underwent knee surgery, so he missed the 2019 season, and he was placed in ni-gun in 2020. The Golden Eagles then traded him to the Nippon Ham Fighters for Toshitake Yokoo. [2]

The Saga native joined the rotation in 2021 after changing teams, and he was 3-10 with a 3.94 ERA. He tied Takayuki Kishi and Sachiya Yamasaki for the lead in losses in the Pacific League. Ikeda only pitched 4 games in 2022, and the Fighters turned him into a reliever in 2023. He adapted to the new role very well, and he notched 25 holds with a 2.86 ERA in 51 appearances. he tied Shota Watanabe and Yuki Matsumoto for 4th in holds.

Ikeda's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 96.9 mph, a slider, cutter, forkball, shuuto, changeup and a curveball.
