Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Syd Smith played for four teams in his major league career of five years. His minor league career stretched from 1904-1917. He was the head coach at his alma mater in 1915. He is not to be confused with Sid Smith, who played in an earlier era of the game.
In the minors he played for teams in the South and for Columbus.
He was a teammate of Joe Jackson in both Philadelphia and Cleveland.
