Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Susumu Yagi debuted in 1942 as a 17-year-old for Nankai and hit .148/.235/.162 in 79 games. The next season, he batted .147/.217/.170 in 62 contests. At age 19, he improved to .212/.336/.246 with 22 walks and just four strikeouts in 35 games. It would be his last season as he was killed in combat in World War II while serving in the Japanese military.
