Biographical Information[edit]
Sun-woo Kim signed with the Doosan Bears for 2008, following a couple of former Korean major leaguers who returned to the Korea Baseball Organization in 2007 - Hee-seop Choi and Jung Bong. In the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, Kim was 1-0 with a 5.14 ERA as South Korea earned a spot in the 2008 Olympic Games. He allowed 4 runs in 5 innings in a start against Spain but got enough offensive support for the win. The only former major leaguer on South Korea's staff, he had the worst ERA despite not facing any challenging teams.
In 2008, Kim got off to a wretched start in the KBO, starting 0-3 with a 7.30 ERA, allowing 18 hits in 12 1/3 IP and leading the league in losses.
