Sturgis is in western South Dakota about 25 miles from the Wyoming border and 25 miles north of Rapid City, SD. Carroll Hardy was born here. Sturgis Brown High School is located here. The town hosted the NAIA Area 3 North tournaments in 1965 and 1966.
