Osceolas of Stratford

The 1871 champion team

The Stratford Osceolas were a team that played in the National Association of Base Ball Players from 1866 to 1870. After the NA downsized to just 9 teams and became professional in 1871, the Osceolas continued to play under independent status and were apparently the champions of the state of Connecticut that year. The 1871 championship team featured Frank Buttery and future Hall of Famer Jim O'Rourke. Tim Murnane also played for the team in 1869 and 1870.
