Biographical Information[edit]
Steven Delanoy plays the outfield for the Hoboken Pioneers of the Belgian First Division, as of 2009. He is the son of another Dutch star, Albert De Lannoy.
Steven has been chosen to represent Belgium at selected international tournaments in the past. He was 1 for 5 with a walk and 2 runs in the 2001 European Championship. He was a roster selection for the 2003 Flanders International Baseball Tournament. [1] He hit .261/.346/.261 in the 2003 European Championship. [2]
He has also played for the Belgian national softball team, and is listed on the Belgian team roster for the 2007 European Softball Championship. [3]
Playing in the Hoboken Pioneers in the Belgian First Division in 2008, he hit .400/.521/.587, and scored the most runs in the league (28). [4] He hit .278/.316/.389 with 7 RBI in four games in the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers to help Belgium win a spot at the 2010 European Championship; he was second in the event in RBI. [5]
In 2009 for the Pioneers, he had 157 at bats, 57 runs with 65 hits, and a .414 avg (tied for the league lead). He also plays softball for another Belgian team, but had better numbers that year playing softball.
Playing for the Belgian team at the 2009 Open international de Rouen, he was given the "Best Batter" award for his efforts. At this tournament, he only had 2 AB, but got hits both times, for a 1.500/1.000/1.000 record. He also had a 1.000 FLD%.
