Steven Charles Righetti


Steve Righetti was the second Righetti taken from San Jose City College in the January 1977 amateur draft, going to the Texas Rangers in the sixth round, five rounds after brother Dave Righetti was selected. Steve was an infielder, like his father Leo Righetti.

Righetti debuted in 1977 with the GCL Rangers (.278/~.350/.389 in 24 games) and the Asheville Tourists (.257/~.350/.286). In 1978, Steve hit .246/~.302/.359 in 75 games for Asheville, mostly at third base. He concludes his career with the 1979 Tourists, batting .226/~.289/.389 in 94 games as a utility infielder.
