Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Steve Patchin was drafted in the 41st round of the 1968 amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals. Opting for college, Patchin was then drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1st round of the secondary phase of the 1971 amateur draft.
Patchin hit .269 and tied for the Pacific Coast League catchers lead with 13 errors in 1973. He spent the next two years down in AA, leading the Eastern League in errors in 1975, but hitting .294. On December 15, 1975, the Dodgers traded Patchin to the Royals who gave him a second shot at AAA in 1976. Patchin hit .300, but again led his league in errors, this time the American Association.
Patchin was listed on the Royals' 1977 spring roster, but never made the majors.
