Biographical information[edit]

Steve Goodson is a former minor league baseball outfielder who played in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization in 1998 and 2000. He was originally drafted by the Devil Rays in the 11th round of the 1998 amateur draft after having helped his school win the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series.

He began his professional career in 1998 with the Hudson Valley Renegades. With them, he hit .303/.375/.440 with three home runs and 32 RBI in 62 games. He just missed the top 10 in average in the New York-Penn League.

Goodson missed all of 1999 after he tore his ACL.

In 2000, he played in 105 games for the St. Petersburg Devil Rays, with whom he hit .217/.298/.254 with no home runs and 23 RBI in 351 at-bats.

Overall, Goodson hit .251 in 167 minor league games. He hit three home runs and drove in 55 RBI.
