Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Steve Coley played in the Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Red Sox systems from 1965 to 1970.
The fleet-footed ballplayer stole 10 bases his first season and hit .315 with nine steals for the Gastonia Pirates in 1967. He then swiped 18 bags in 1968, his first year in the Red Sox chain, 21 in 1969 and 10 in 1970, his final campaign. Overall, he batted .281/.344/.375 with 70 steals in 529 games over six seasons.
He later coached at Landrum High School.
