Stayler Hernández has played in the Cuban Serie Nacional. In 2007-2008, he hit .297/.371/.471 as the center fielder for the Metropolitanos but was 4th in the loop with 65 strikeouts. Usually hitting leadoff, he did not show great speed with 8 steals in 16 tries. Playing first base often in 2008-2009, the left-hander hit .321/.372/.524 for the Metropolitanos.

In 2009-2010, Hernández joined the Industriales to replace defector Yasser Gómez in center. He hit .327/.379/.509. After the Industriales dropped the first two games of the finals, Stayler homered twice in game three to lead them back into it.
