Stan Klores played four years of minor league baseball while attending Northwestern University in the offseason. He began his pro career with the Peoria Tractors in 1935, hitting .283 with 6 home runs in 114 games. With the Montgomery Bombers in 1937, he hit .276 with a team-leading 69 RBI. He spent the next summer, his final one in pro ball, with the Bloomington Bloomers of the Three-I League but .231 in 97 games while struggling with a leg injury.

Klores became head baseball coach at Northwestern in 1940 and in his first year led the school to a 14-10-1 and a share of the Big Ten Conference championship (the school tied the University of Illinois). The Wildcats dropped to 11-14 the next year, and following the season, he enlisted in the Navy. He was killed in action two years later when the ship he was on, the USS Cooper, was torpedoed in the Philippines.
