Biographical Information[edit]
Stan Isaacs was a longtime sports columnist for Newsday, working for the paper from 1954 to 1992. For many years, he wrote a column called "Out of Left Field."
A fan and supporter of the Brooklyn Dodgers, he pushed and promoted the idea of having a statue of Pee Wee Reese and Jackie Robinson constructed. It now stands outside MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones. He also covered Bobby Thomson's Shot Heard 'Round the World, the Roger Maris home run chase and the birth of the New York Mets.
