Biographical Information[edit]

Squire Potter pitched one game in the major leagues in 1923 at the age of 21. Years later, his brother Dykes Potter pitched two games in the majors in 1938. Both brothers were born in Kentucky and died in Kentucky.

A genealogy site about Potters in Kentucky lists a Robert Squire Potter with the ballplayer's birth and death dates. His name "Squire", which could have been a nickname, would make sense if it were in fact his middle name. However, the site disagrees with BR's formal name for Dykes Potter, and it lists Squire's and Dykes' parents as having 18 children! [1]

Flatwoods, KY is also the birthplace of singer Billy Ray Cyrus.
