South Bend Bux

From BR Bullpen

On July 13, 1911 the South Bend Benders moved from South Bend, IN to Grand Rapids, MI, becoming the Grand Rapids Grads, and creating an opening in the city. That opening was filled on August 11 when another Central League team moved in. The Evansville, IN-based Evansville Strikers came to town and took on the name South Bend Bux. Evansville was 54-54 at the time of the move and went 8-18 in South Bend. The team finished 62-72, fifth in the 8-team league. The top hitter in terms of average was someone named Byrnes (.319/~.361/.488). The next season they took on the Benders name.
