Sonora is a state in Mexico, located in the northern part of the country on the border with Arizona and on the eastern shore of the Gulf of California. Its capital and main city is Hermosillo; other major cities include Guaymas, Nogales, Navojoa, San Luis Rio Colorado and Ciudad Obregon.
