Biographical Information[edit]
Relief pitcher Sixto Baez played in the Mexican League from 1993 to 2007. In 574 career appearances, he went 54-54 with a 2.95 ERA, saving 210 games. In 735 innings, he allowed 688 hits and 110 walks, while striking out 192 batters.
Seasons of note include 1996, when he led the league with a 1.54 ERA (.16 ahead of Isaac Jimenez), 2003, when he had a 1.73 ERA and 25 saves in 38 games for the Oaxaca Guerreros and 2006, when he had 26 saves and a 1.99 ERA in 62 games between the Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz and Venados de Mazatlan of the Mexican Pacific Winter League.
He died at 40 years old in a car crash. At the time of his death, he was second in LMB history in saves, behind only Isidro Márquez.
