An ardent supporter of the Boston Red Sox, Silvio Conte was an American politician. He served the first district of Massachusetts in the House of Representatives for seventeen terms.
In addition to his life as a public servant, Conte would often slip praise for the Red Sox into the Congressional Record. Conte was also a master manager having led the Republicans to thirteen straight wins in the annual Congressional baseball game.
Conte once said, "Baseball is the glue that could hold the most politically polarized group of people together."
