Sid Mercer
James Sidney Mercer was a charter member of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and covered baseball and boxing in St. Louis, MO and New York City. He wrote for the St. Louis Republic, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, New York Evening Globe, New York Evening Journal and New York American.
He won the J. G. Taylor Spink Award in 1969 for his body of work.
