Biographical Information[edit]
Sherman Obando hit 102 home runs while playing for the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan from 1999 through 2005.
In the 2002 Intercontinental Cup, Obando hit .269/.472/.423 with 7 walks and 9 runs in 8 games for Panama.
Obando batted .400/.500/.760 as the DH for Panama in the qualifiers for the 2008 Olympics; they missed the Olympics but did qualify for the 2007 Baseball World Cup and 2007 Pan-American Games thanks to his effort. In the 2007 World Cup, Obando hit .389/.476/.611 as Panama's top offensive threat.
Sherman Obando began his first season with the Charleston RiverDogs as the first base coach in 2009.
