Biographical Information[edit]

While attending New Hanover High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, first baseman Shawn Gallagher hit safely in 51 straight games, tying the prep mark set by Stan Brown of Noblesville, Indiana. Gallagher was then selected by the Texas Rangers in the 5th round of the 1995 amateur draft.

After playing in the minors from 1995 to 2001, Gallagher left professional baseball to pursue a degree in Nuclear Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
