Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Shawn Curran was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles system in the 2nd round of the 1991 amateur draft - just ahead of Kevin Stocker - and played in their system through 1992. He was signed by scout Rick Arnold.

In 36 games with the GCL Orioles in 1991, Curran hit .172/.303/.222 with no home runs, eight RBI and 16 runs scored. He had six passed balls and 7 errors in 31 games at catcher. The next year, he hit .273/.333/.545 in three games for the GCL Orioles; he had 3 passed balls and one error in that short time. Overall, he hit .182/.305/.255 with 20 hits, 18 runs and 9 RBI in 39 games; he fielded .968 and had 9 passed balls.

He died on November 9, 2005 at age 32.
