Biographical Information[edit]

Seong-nam Jeon is a former Olympic pitcher who appeared in over 200 Korea Baseball Organization games.

Jeon was 1-1 with a 5.85 ERA in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup. He struck out 16 in a team-high 20 innings. He finished fourth in the event in strikeouts behind Omar Luis, Young-soo Kim and Masanori Sugiura. He was 0-2 in the 1996 Olympics but his 5.59 ERA was third on South Korea's team behind Kim and Dong-hwan Moon. He allowed three runs in three innings in relief in a loss to Australia, started and gave up 2 runs in 2 2/3 IP in a loss to Cuba and surrendered one run in four innings to save Korea's lone win, over the Netherlands.

Jeon turned pro with the LG Twins in 1997, going 6-5 with a 3.29 ERA. He went 6-7 with a save and a 4.15 ERA in 1998, walking only 27 in 112 2/3 IP. He struggled in 1999 (0-2, 6.57) and had two saves and a 2.68 ERA in 2000. In '01, he was 2-2 with a save and a 7.31 ERA, walking an uncharacteristic 23 in 28 1/3 innings. He had a 6.35 ERA in 11 outings in 2002. His best season as a pro was 2003, when he went 8-2 with two saves and a 2.45 ERA in 68 games for the Twins, with 27 walks in 106 2/3 innings. Jeon ended his career in 2004, going 1-1 with a save and a 5.09 ERA.

Overall, the right-hander was 23-19 with 7 saves and a 3.74 ERA in 221 KBO games.
