Biographical Information[edit]
Seung-lak Son was 0-2 with a 3.93 ERA in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, leading the South Korean national team with four games pitched and 18 1/3 IP. He tied Rafael Medina for 5th in the event with 18 K. He lost to Wei-Yin Chen of Taiwan and lost a 2-0 duel to Takahiko Nomaguchi of Japan. He joined the Hyundai Unicorns after college. He went 5-10 with a 5.43 ERA in 2005, then was 6-5 with a 4.17 ERA in 2006. He entered the military after that. Son was 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA In the 2009 Baseball World Cup, second on Korea in ERA behind Ji-woong Yoon. Son got a win over Sweden and a loss in a 3-2 nail-biter to a MLB-loaded Puerto Rican national team. He tossed a solid game against Spain but got a no-decision.
