Serge Touchette
- Born August 1, 1952 in Montréal, QC Canada
Biographical Information[edit]
Serge Touchette was the long-time baseball beat writer for Le Journal de Montréal, Montreal's biggest newspaper in terms of circulation. He began covering the Montreal Expos in 1975 and stayed with them until they became the Washington Nationals after the 2004 season, except for a six-week period in 1999 when he was a columnist. He served as president of the Montreal chapter of the BBWAA and Vice-President of the Canadian BBWAA. He covered various other sports in addition to baseball, although baseball was always his main beat and favorite topic.
He was elected to the Quebec Baseball Hall of Fame in 2013 and was honored with the Jack Graney Award by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015. In 2019, to mark the Expos' 50th anniversary, he published a book of funny anecdotes about the team based on his years of daily coverage; its title translates to "Ellis Valentine's butt-cheek and 75 other crunchy stories about the Expos".
