Biographical Information[edit]

Sean McGrath earned his bachelor's degree in government and law from Lafayette College in 2012. He made 70 career appearances for the Leopards out of the bullpen. After graduation, he played one season with the McAllen Thunder of the North American League.

After his playing career ended, McGrath spent several years coaching baseball in college with one detour into scouting. He was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the Iona College Gaels in 2013-2014. McGrath moved into scouting for one year as the scouting director for the Prep Baseball Report in New Jersey. He returned to coaching in the 2016-2017 seasons with the University of Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks followed by two seasons with the Elon University Phoenix in 2018-2019.

The Seattle Mariners hired McGrath for the Modesto Nuts pitching coach position in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season. He was pitching coach of the Everett AquaSox in 2021 and Arkansas Travelers n 2022.

McGrath then moved to college coaching as pitching coach at University of Iowa in 2023.
