Biographical Information[edit]

Se-wan Hong has been an infielder in the Korea Baseball Organization whose career has been limited by injuries.

Hong made his KBO debut with the 2000 Haitai Tigers, hitting .240/.307/.363 in 49 games while battling a right wrist injury. In 2001, he batted .293/.354/.443 for the club, now known as the KIA Tigers. He hit .304/.333/.391 in the 2001 Baseball World Cup as the starting Korean shortstop. He fielded .968.

Hong produced at a .257/.315/.399 clip in 2002. For the 2003 Tigers, he hit .290/.347/.483 with 22 homers and 100 RBI. He won a Gold Glove as the best all-around shortstop in the KBO. He helped South Korea to Bronze in the 2003 Asian Championship. In 2004, he batted .295/.389/.491 with 15 homers. During 2005, Hong hit .284/.353/.412.

Hong batted .206/.280/.248 in 66 games while having right knee and shoulder injuries in 2006. In 2007, he was limited to 59 games and hit .261/.338/.402 while battling a left knee injury. He did not play in 2008 but returned to action in 2009.
