Biographical Information[edit]

Scott Pose won the 1992 Southern League batting title with a .342 average for the Chattanooga Lookouts. He also led the league in at-bats, runs, hits and OBP that season.

He was the first batter to come to the plate in the history of the Florida Marlins, in his major league debut on April 5, 1993. He reached on an error by Jody Reed of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was unable to hold on to his starting job for long, however, as he played just 15 games for the Marlins that season, hitting .195. He then played in the minors until 1997, when he resurfaced as a 30-year-old back-up outfielder with the New York Yankees, hitting .218 in 54 games, but only 87 at-bats. In 1999 and 2000, he played for the Kansas City Royals, getting into 86 games and batting 136 times the first of these, both being career highs. Altogether, he hit .240 with no homers and 21 RBIs in 202 career games spread over his four seasons.

He played the role of New York Yankees outfielder "Matt Crane" in the 1999 movie For the Love of the Game. The baseball scenes were filmed late in the 1997 season, when he was with the Yankees, and a number of teammates such as Dave Eiland also appear as actors in the movie.

He has called games in the Fayetteville Regional in 2019 for ESPN.
