Biographical Information[edit]
Scott Perry had a hardscrabble childhood and yet managed to have a pretty successful pro career. In addition to his seven seasons in the majors, he had quite a few years in the minors, ending in 1927. When he wasn't pitching pro ball, he often pitched semi-pro ball.
He is famous for two things: 1) winning 20 games for a last-place major league team (in 1918), and 2) losing 25 games in a season (in 1920). In 1915-16, Perry won a total of 40 games for the Atlanta Crackers.
He was the subject of a high-profile lawsuit between the Boston Braves and the Philadelphia Athletics, at a time when teams rarely went to court over players.
He was once arrested for larceny, and eventually worked as a cook and dishwasher.
