Biographical Information[edit]

Santiago Gonzalez has played in the Mexican League.

Gonzalez debuted in 2003 with the Veracruz Eagle, hitting .220/.270/.254 in 67 plate appearances over 62 games. In 2004, he batted .302/.336/.419; the next year, he hit .250/.306/.290. During 2006, Gonzalez hit .301/.357/.408 and stole 20 bases in 26 tries; he also had 12 outfield assists in 93 games. Moving to the Minatitlan Oilers in 2007, the Actopan native put up a .316/.359/.452 line, scored 77 runs, hit 32 doubles, stole 22 bases (but was caught 15 times) and had 14 outfield assists. He was third in the Mexican League in doubles and tied Sharnol Adriana for third in times caught stealing.

Gonzalez hit .305/343/.389 in 2008 while splitting time between Veracruz and Minatitlan; he scored 80 runs between the two stops and had an amazing 19 outfield assists. He batted .308/.353/.403 for the Veracruz club in '09. The little flyhawk split 2010 between Minatitlan and the Nuevo Laredo Owls and put up a .292/.319/.406 line. He then played for the Mexican national team for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games.
